Living it.
How the journey began

As a language teacher and linguist, I’ve spent 35 years teaching, researching and publishing in the areas of academic English, Japanese, language development, language description, language curricula and language in society. Needless to say, I love languages and am proud to be an unapologetic grammarian.
As my career progressed, I moved into leadership roles which required skills other than just the critical thinking skills of a scholar. I wanted to feel emotionally strong as I sought to lead others. I wanted to know myself better and stand confidently and compassionately in my power. I wanted to be there for others authentically and empathetically. In short, I wanted a different attitude towards myself and others.
I decided to go on a journey of self discovery, to retire from my academic life and discover the world of living from the heart, of being connected to my feelings and needs and those of others with love and care. I found this new reality in the world of Compassionate Communication, a way of talking and listening that foregrounds giving from the heart.
Having found my truth, I am now sharing this with enthusiasm, offering language of compassion courses through Coaching to Clarity. I use my linguistic and leadership skills to teach and practice ways of speaking differently, to help people find clarity, manage conflict and contribute to a happier, more peaceful life.

I have enjoyed a very successful career developing people, leading change and guiding organisations positively. However, increasingly I felt restless because the structures I was working within were taking me away from where I felt I could make a real and inspiring difference to myself and for others. I knew there was more I could offer and wanted to live a life that was more than ‘just OK’. Being a workplace and leadership coach has given me the opportunity to really support people in their personal and professional development.
Tony Wennerbom is the Managing Director of Coaching to Clarity Group Pty Ltd. He is an experienced specialist in leadership and management with a demonstrated history of successfully delivering transformation change across a diverse range of government and not-for-profit industries. He is skilled in executive and workplace coaching, talent management, leadership and management facilitation, project management and organisational leadership development, Tony has a strong professional engineering background supported by tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations, Strategy and Management and Capability Management.
“After having been an engineering executive for the past 28 years, I am now focussing more of my time in the workplace and leadership coaching space so that I can meet my needs for authenticity and growth. Likewise, coaching others has given me a new sense of freedom and an opportunity to make a positive difference in the world.”

On completing a BA Hons music degree, I spent most of the 1990’s traveling and playing my clarinet at street festivals and other events around the world. I eventually settled in Sydney in 2000, establishing myself as both a professional musician and theatrical circus artist, performing nationally and internationally. My extensive and varied travel and work experience gave me an education not only in the rich diversity of people on the planet- but also in the striking similarities that characterise humans and their behaviour.
I first discovered Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2010 and it changed my life! Concepts and beliefs that I already knew in my heart to be true, were now laid out for me in the one, easy to follow communication model. NVC has given me the communication tools to show up in ways that better align with my integrity; address and heal childhood trauma; overcome addictions, recover quickly from shame, grievances or altercations; deepen connection with those I love and develop tolerance, kindness and compassion for those I find harder to love.
I’m now an internationally certified trainer through The Centre for Nonviolent Communication and delighted to be part of the Coaching to Clarity team. I teach simple, yet highly effective, communication techniques to help people respond to life, instead of reacting to it. I am passionate about sharing the gifts of a compassionate consciousness with others, and love working with those ready to take a leap in their interpersonal and personal development.
