Blogging

I started blogging back in 2018 when I walked the Camino de Santiago with Tony to mark the transition from working to retirement. I walked during the morning and blogged about the day in the afternoon. I was experimenting with using a website for sharing my thoughts. Here is the link to my personal website blog page. The most recent entry is first so you need to scroll to the very end to read about the Camino. (Cate, I don’t expect you to read any of this! It is just background to my NVC blogging)

So once we set up Coaching to Clarity, I was feeling familiar with the technical environment, and how and when I felt the desire to write.

Learning NVC really set my writing desire alight! I wanted to write about the experience of using the various NVC processes to get to know myself better. And I decided that other people might like to read about how it works and how if feels to understand and try to live within a paradigm of feelings and needs. I have written more than I have published. I write something when I am in the mood, but I don’t always publish it. I wait until I think the topic is relevent and then I publish. I’m also celebrating how my blogs have supported the writing up of the NVC Model, Components and Key Differentiation section of the portfolio. While this wasn’t my intention at the time of writing the blogs, I am delighted at how they aligned with and afforded personal examples of key concepts in NVC.

When I was working with the web developer, she explained that blogging is a marketing strategy. I was a bit taken aback by this because I had always thought blogging was a learning and sharing act of generosity. How naive! So eventually I started using the blogs as the ‘offering’ to my social media audience when I posted notifications of training. I still find this a rather cynical use of creative blogging. But I remind myself that I blog to share a learning, or an experience. I will continue to blog for these reasons as my needs for creativity, sharing, community and connection are met. Of late, I haven’t been blogging as I have been working my this portfolio since December 2022. Here is the link to the blog page on the website. I’m looking forward to doing some more blogging in the second half of 2023.
